Anne Winner was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on May 21, 1957, into a lawyer's family, which lent her a disposition suited to legal practice.

She is a 1981 graduate in English from the University of Nebraska and a 1985 graduate of the University of Nebraska College of Law, where she served as an executive editor of The Nebraska Law Review. She joined the law firm upon graduation, and since that time, has concentrated on workers' compensation law and judical ethics. Ms. Winner has lectured extensively on workers' compensation law at numerous seminars for lawyers, vocational consultants, employers, and claims personnel. She is admitted to practice before the state and federal district courts, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit. She has been "AV" rated since 1995.

Ms. Winner has also served on the Lincoln Bar Association's Board of Trustees from 1993 to 1995; as a member of the Executive Committee of the Robert Van Pelt American Inn of Court from 1990 to 1995; on the Board of Directors of the Nebraska State Bar Association's Section on Workers' Compensation from 1989 to 1997, which she chaired in 1995; as Chair of the Nebraska State Bar Association's Committee on Civil Practice & Procedure 1996 to 1998; and as a member of the Nebraska State Bar Association's committees on Legislation and the Centennial. She served on the judicial Resources Commission which regulates judicial vacancies in Nebraska from 1998 to 2004.

Ms. Winner has a special professional interest in the effect of worker's compensation decisions on employers and insurance carriers, and in judicial ethics. She enjoys reading and traveling with her husband.
